I've never trained at Synergy BJJ before, how do I start?

Adults: If you have no experience with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then we recommend that you start by choosing one of our 'fundamental' classes listed in our schedule; however, you're welcome to attend any training time. Aim to arrive a few minutes early before class to meet your instructor and fill out a waiver.

When you enter the building, you will be required to remove your outdoor footwear at the entrance.  A changing room and bathroom is available. Feel free to use our shelving space to store your belongings during class.

For No-Gi classes, participants typically wear rash-guards (similar to a compression fabric shirt)  and shorts. Shorts, tights, and any athletic shirt/tee-shirt is suitable for training. If you choose to come to a Gi class, you're welcome to wear any colour gi.

Our fundamentals classes are made up of many different levels of BJJ practitioners; do not be intimidated--at some point, we were all beginners!

Kids: Check our schedule for the 'mini (ages 7-10)' or 'youth (ages 11+)' class times. Parents, aim to arrive a few minutes early before class to meet the instructor and fill out a waiver for your child.

When you enter the building, you will be required to remove your outdoor footwear at the entrance.  A changing room and bathroom are available. Feel free to use our shelving space to store your belongings during class. Parents are welcome to stay and observe class from just outside the mat space.

Shorts, tights, and any athletic shirt/tee-shirt is suitable for training. If your child chooses to join the program on a regular basis they will be required to buy a gi (these can be purchased directly through Synergy BJJ).

On their first day, kids will be taught the basic movements and skills to participate in the larger class. These classes are made up of children with all different skill levels. Techniques and teaching will be adapted to accommodate the best interests of each child's learning.

Out of town visitors: Please contact us if you would like to attend a class as a visitor, or sign up through our scheduling page. The drop-in fee is $15 and can sent in advance to hold your spot to bjjfredericton@gmail.com
